How are you all doing, my fellow students?
I am happy to say, I am healthy and well again in 2012! (今年もおかげさまで、また元気で良い2012年になりそうです！)
皆さんはお正月、どういう様な過ごし方をされていますか？
沖縄では親戚のお家を回るというのが主流ですが、では本土の方々はどうなのでしょう？
I went to my husband’s parent’s house for the first time and spoke a bit and left to his parent’s house afterward. (私は主人のお父様側のお母さんに会いにゆき、少しお話をした後、彼のご両親のお家に行きました。)
In Japan, we have a custom to give children some amount of money in New Year day. (日本ではお正月に子供にお年玉をあげる習慣があります。) However, in foreign countries, I think we don’t have that kind of custom. （しかし海外の国々ではその様な習慣はないと思います。）
We provide money to children or grand-children when they graduate from high school and university. （私達は子供か孫が高校と大学を卒業後、お金を用意します。）
This time, I provided this otoshidama for 15 children. （今回は15名のお年玉を用意しました。）
実際には自分の子供が生まれたら始まる習慣だそうです。
So how many otoshidama did you provide for your children or grand-children?
